Region of Guadalajara has nothing to envy to other provinces of Spain. Here we can find wonders of nature that few people know.
The eastern part is quite unknown for most of the Spanish and has some of the best treasures as nature places.
In the map below I present the general index of hiking trails that will explain in my website where you will find truthful information as to overcome these challenges.
There are all levels and are marked in different colors depending on the difficulty entailed either.
If you click on the map you can see the exposed routes that I have done.
If you press here you will see the topographic map classified by the areas of the region.
This route is theoretically in the region of Zaragoza but has been included to be sticking with Guadalajara, just past the ravine Valdelobos.
It is part of the town of Jaraba, parking the car in the vicinity of a shrine that is built against the mountain as shown in the photo uploaded.
This point is the origin of the route where the path will go up and will border around the ravine and then down and do the same route.
This path is circular and the maximum vertical drop is 300 meters. This shrine is only accessible on Tuesdays, with guided tour.
During the route we will see in information panels different stages in the formation of these strange grooves and observe cave paintings and former pastors pens.
Walking around the sanctuary can be seen on many occasions the flight of lion vulture, a species endemic to this area, as seen in the photos.
The ideal time to realize it is spring, when we have a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees. We did it in the month of April and even as early the sun was enough.
It is advisable to wear sunscreen as this area is quite arid, hence it is called La Hoz Seca of Mesa river.
