For earn money legally you must have a bank account registered in England. Normally there is a little problem with the papers to have one, because sometimes you have the trouble that for rent a house or an apartment they ask you for a job contract and for a job contract you need an account, so you need to do something before. Some people reject cash money so it is necessary.

Depending of the location of the bank offices sometimes you could have more probability to create the account successfully. In my case i haven´t a house before land in England, but I went to an english office and I inscribe in a course with an address where i was not living, (I was living in a hostel), and with the paper of the office I create the bank account and with the bank account I got rent papers for the house.

Barclays

This is one of the more important banks of England with a global strong presence. Is one of the recommended banks to creat a foreign account because it is easy to do due they not have fees or commisions. If you are foreign it is easy to create the account and they use to ask for some money in the account and living place. I remember have 20 pounds for 6 months and not do any operation and the 20 pounds where there.

Lloyds Bank

It is with Barclays the bank with the biggest number of offices distributed in many offices in England. If your are in London it is easy to create far of the centre of the town, because it could give an impression that you are a tourist and not people who live in London. That is because renting house in the center, area 1, it is basically impossible for a normal person, even the people who work in the bank live outside the center.

Santander

It is the 4th bank by number of offices in UK and even being the same bank that in spain, it is a totally different bank, with diferent rules and conditions. If you have an account bank in Spain it could be easy to create the account.

HSBC

It is the first bank in United Kingdom in volumen and it is the seventh bank biggest in the world. It has office in all the country but make a account is not that easy like the others and not free of fees.

Natwest

It is one of the biggest banks in number of operations in United Kingdom. Until the date it was composing by Scotland Bank of United Kingdom but lastly it wasn't trying to absorv other banks like HSBC.
