History of the institute

Brianda de Mendoza is one of the leading centers in the capital of Alcarria, with more than 1500 students. These students, apart from secondary and high school education, come from various modules. Modules of families as varied as Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce and Information Technology and Communications.

History for The Guadalajara Institute was created by Royal Order on September 27, 1837, formally inaugurating on September 30 of the same year, with fourteen students enrolled. It is, therefore, one of the oldest among the ancients, even though the lack of students meant that, like others of its age, it was suppressed for some years. Specifically between 1850 and 1855, when it was provisionally reopened until its definitive consolidation in 1857. When its opening coincided with the closure of the old “College-University” of Sigüenza, it was decided that the income from it would pass to the Institute, along with movable property such as books or paintings and liturgical objects. for The first location of the Institute was the old Convent of San Juan de Dios, now disappeared, where the Normal School was also established in 1842, with which it lived until, in 1857, once consolidated, it was transferred to the Convent of La Piedad, founded in the 16th century by Mrs. Brianda de Mendoza y Luna. It shared this building with the Provincial Library, the Museum of Paintings, the Provincial Council, and even the Prison, until around the turn of the century their own buildings were built for the Provincial Council, which brought with it the Museum of Paintings- and the Prison, moving from new the Institute and the Library to San Juan de Dios while the remodeling and expansion works of the La Piedad convent building lasted. for In the early years of the 20th century the Library and the Normal School were segregated, so that already during the Republic the entire Convent was occupied by the Institute, which celebrated its first centenary in the midst of the civil war, with part of the building occupied by a section of Assault Guards and civil defense facilities. for Shortly after the war, the Institute received the name "Brianda de Mendoza", in homage to the founder of the Convent. In the mid-sixties, the increase in enrollment and the deterioration of the building, caused its transfer in 1972 to a newly built one located in an area of the city, the Polígono “El Balconcillo” then in expansion, whose growth is now stagnant , where it still continues. for At present, the center teaches ESO and day high school, night and distance high school, and training cycles for middle and higher grades for professional families of Computer Science, Commerce and Administration, both in the morning and afternoon shifts and remotely. for Source: IES BRIANDA DE MENDOZA .

My time at Brianda

I have spent two good years in this institute and I will surely be in it again. It is very well managed by an experienced and highly capable management team. Although I have had to go through the entire coronavirus stage since it broke and changed everything until the moment we had to get vaccinated, I have quite a good memory.
Gone are those times when Brianda had a reputation for being a conflictive and low-level institute 20-25 years ago that for that reason I studied at the famous Liceo Caracense, an institute that gathers the best students in the capital, and that he usually gets excellent marks in the Selectivity or Ebau tests. I myself had a remarkable bass and it was one of the worst marks in my class. In addition, the equipment of the institute is correct with PCs in all classes. Looking at it now with respect to the institute where I am now, which is quite good, it also has better equipment, although the building is very large and needed some reform like the one that was carried out the year of my passage through it with change of windows in almost everything the building, to improve insulation and energy efficiency.
Also having touched the afternoon, with its tranquility and with some colleagues like me who were quite new in the world of education. The students for their part have also been too good for the times. With hardly any incidence due to bad behavior and with a fairly high dedication and involvement. My modules about computer security, one of my favorite topics as well as web page design, which I learned 5 years ago and that in addition to having this website has enabled me to not need any material to be able to teach a class on quality.
